Experience - Tom has over 30 years of general corporate and commercial experience in such areas as securities, business counseling, joint ventures, mergers and acquisitions, private financings and domestic and international commercial transactions. His technology andintellectual property transaction practice includes design and development contracts, alltypes of licensing, equipment and hardware transactions, internet and e-commerce transactions, biotech and medical device matters, outsourcing, government contracts, supply chain and other commercial matters. He also regularly acts as neutral in complex commercial and international mediations and arbitrations.

States Admitted - New York and Massachusetts.

Representative Clients - Tom's clients have included small and large technology companies in computers, internet, electronics, telecommunications, medical equipment and biotechnology, chemicals and materials sciences), financial institutions (including private equity, venture capital and commercial banks) and various basic industrial and consumer product companies.

Background - Prior to forming Halket Weitz, LLP, Tom was a partner in several major law firms, and is a member of the panels of arbitrators and mediators of the American Arbitration Association (including the commercial, large complex technology and IP and international panels), the Chartered Institute of Arbitrators (London), the CPR Institute for Dispute Resolution (including the CPR Panel of Distinguished Neutrals and the domain name disputes panel) and the World Intellectual Property Organization (including domain name and on-line panels) (Geneva). Tom is Adjunct Associate Professor at Fordham Law School, teaching a course called "Representing the Technology Start-Up."

Selected Professional and Civic Activities - Tom is Chairman of the Technology Advisory Committee of the American Arbitration Association and the Chairman and a former President of the M.I.T. Club of New York. He is a Member of the Board of Directors of the M.I.T. Enterprise Forum of New York City and an M.I.T. Venture Mentor.

He is the former Chairman of the Section of Science and Technology of the American Bar Association. He is also the former Chairman of the ABA's Division on Ventures and Enterprise and its Aerospace Law Division. He was the Chairman of the Subcommitee on Software and the Uniform Commercial Code of the Association of the Bar of the City of New York. He is an author and speaker on various topics relating to technology and the law.
